In addition to all the shit I went through my adopted "mother" stole thousands of dollars from a trust fund left to me by my adopted grandmother, they lied to me for years, I only found out about the theft from a clerical error through the bank. My attorney was able to recover some of it, I decided not to pursue a civil suit because I want to move on with my life.
I went out to the country and burned all the legal documents so my past literally went up in smoke and blew away in the wind.

Well done you! I wish you every success, warmth and love that you deserve. It is good to move on and at the same time know how to deal with your past when you are feeling low or stressed as that is when our past has a tendency to creep up on us. I do not think anyone can completely forget traumas of the past, but instead use it to make sure that you nor anyone else goes through that again.
